In my practice, I always get more calls at the beginning of the year than at any other time of the year. Don't get me wrong, I love hearing from new clients, but most people are looking for the quick fix.
The thing is, getting healthy really can be a quick fix, but you need to work at it.
Sound weird? Not really.
Is getting healthy a hard thing to do?
When you are first changing over to a healthier way of eating, it can be a hard thing - eating healthy doesn't come through a car window or out of a box from a microwave. You need to chop things, and stir things, and cook things.
But once you have mastered those few things, it really is a quick fix. That's because your body is craving these healthy foods and it knows what to do with them once you provide your body with these glorious nutritious foods. It gets healthier. Quickly.
I have clients who see a difference in their sleep patterns, their digestion, their skin, their bowels in just a few short weeks.
So today I am sharing with you, the 9 steps that I tell my clients to follow to achieve better health.
1. Drink Water
- Get 8 - 10 glasses per day of pure, filtered water every day
- Reduce your consumption of caffeinated drinks
2. Improve your Digestion and Gut Health
- it's as simple as chewing food completely to allow your body to do
its job digesting the food and absorbing the nutrients . (ask me for the handout)
3. Love your Immune System
- Eat foods rich in zinc, eat lots of garlic and ginger, and drink pure,
filtered water.
4. Let Food be Your Medicine
- Consume fibre
- Make sure you're eating the Rainbow
- Eat whole grains and seeds
- Don't Skip Breakfast, eat every 2 - 4 hours
- Choose alternative sources of protein sources often, and eat your veggies!
5. Eat Healthy Fats
- Avoid Trans fats, but love unsaturated fats, and saturated fats in
moderation (butter, coconut oil, avocado oil)
6. Exercise
- 30 minutes 3 times a week
7. Get Enough Sleep
- 8 hours of good quality sleep
- Practice good sleep hygiene (ask me for this handout)
8. Reduce your exposure to Toxins
- choose organic wherever possible. Use the Dirty Dozen and Clean
Fifteen list (www.ewg.org)
- choose free range, antibiotic and drug free meats, dairy and eggs
wherever possible
9. Reduce or eliminate stress
- Breathe, meditate, practice yoga, tai chi, have a massage, play!
Try them, and then tell me how they helped you!

Great tips! I have found more sleep and drinking filtered water have helped me tremendously this year!
Thank you! That`s great that doing those two things are helping you! I always say to take baby steps – do one thing different each day or each week and you will definitely notice a difference.
#7 is a though one for me. I never get enough sleep during summer time.
Excellent tips and advice. Our family is so much more healthier during the Summer because of garden fresh veggies and just everyday work outside. Then we lax over the holidays and when the 1st comes around it’s like a kick in the butt!
Thanks Joie, I`m glad you liked it. Summer is definitely an easier time to eat healthier with the abundance of sunshine, and beautiful fruits and vegetables. Even I`m guilty of slacking off a little bit in the winter… 🙂
